Chengiah Rogers Ragavan
Chengiah 'Rogers' Ragavan was a prominent South African student leader and anti-apartheid activist, born in Durban in the 1930s. He became a key figure in the Black Consciousness movement and was a close ally of Steve Biko. Following a political ban in 1967, Ragavan went into exile in the UK, where he continued to advocate for freedom and justice through scholarship and international solidarity. His life was characterized by a steadfast commitment to the ideals of human dignity and social justice, and he remained a vital link between generations of activists until his passing at the age of 95.
