Steve Biko was a South African anti-apartheid activist and a key figure in the Black Consciousness Movement, advocating for the empowerment and self-reliance of Black South Africans. His philosophy and activism in the 1970s inspired a generation to fight against racial oppression, making him a martyr for the struggle for freedom after his death in police custody in 1977.
