
Chiril
Chiril, often referred to as Cyril in Western contexts, was a 9th-century Christian missionary and scholar who, alongside his brother Methodius, played a pivotal role in the cultural and religious development of the Slavic peoples. He is best known for creating the Glagolitic alphabet, which was the first alphabet used to transcribe Old Church Slavonic, paving the way for the development of Slavic literacy and culture.
