Chiro Djanelli

Chiro Djanelli (1905-1959) was a prominent Italian Byzantinist, classical philologist, paleographer, and Slavic scholar renowned for his significant contributions to Macedonian linguistics, particularly through his work on the 'Macedonian Dictionary of the 16th Century.' His scholarly endeavors included a role at the Vatican Library and teaching Byzantine philology at the University of La Sapienza in Rome. Djanelli's research has been crucial in affirming the linguistic and identity heritage of the Macedonian people.
