
Claudia López Hernández
Claudia López Hernández is a prominent Colombian politician and the first woman to be elected as the mayor of Bogotá, achieving this historic milestone in 2019 with over a million votes. A member of the Alianza Verde party, she has served as a senator and was also the vice-presidential candidate for Sergio Fajardo in the 2018 elections. In 2026, she launched her presidential candidacy and won the Consulta de las Soluciones with 385,613 votes. Known for her advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, she is the first openly lesbian individual to run for the presidency in Colombia. López holds a degree in political science from Universidad Externado de Colombia, along with a master's in Public Administration from Columbia University and a doctorate from Northwestern University. She is recognized for her significant contributions to public service and political discourse in Colombia.
