D. José I
D. José I was the King of Portugal from 1750 until his death in 1777, known for his role in the Pombaline Reforms which modernized the Portuguese economy and education system. Recently, a portrait of him, painted by Domenico Duprà, was recovered and is now displayed at the Universidade de Coimbra.
