Dame Enid Lyons
Dame Enid Lyons was an influential Australian politician and the first woman to be elected to the House of Representatives in 1943. Representing the United Australia Party, she served as a member of the parliament until 1951 and later became Australia's first female cabinet minister. Lyons was a strong advocate for women’s rights and social welfare, and her contributions to Australian politics helped pave the way for future generations of female leaders. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1945.
