Dauren Karim

Dauren Karim is a former officer of the financial police in Kazakhstan who has been implicated in the 'Altynkole' corruption scandal. He was arrested in 2018 and subsequently accused of having connections to an organized crime group allegedly led by Mukhtar Duduyev. Karim has publicly declared his innocence and argues that he was wrongfully implicated to lend weight to the case against Duduyev. He asserts that he was trying to deter Duduyev from paying a bribe when he became involved in the investigation.
