Deborah Owczar

Deborah Owczar is a Métis woman who recently received a certificate in child and youth care from Red River College Polytechnic. She attended a gala celebrating Indigenous graduates with her daughter, Stephanie Jebb, and expressed her dismay after Manitoba's Accessibility Minister, Nahanni Fontaine, removed the sign-language interpreter during the event, which she found humiliating and disrespectful.
