Diego de la Vega

Diego de la Vega is a former aide to U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently self-deported to Colombia after living in the United States illegally for over two decades. Originally from Ecuador, de la Vega immigrated to the U.S. as a child and became involved in immigrant rights activism following the failure of the Dream Act in 2010. He served as Ocasio-Cortez's deputy communications director, advocating for immigration reform and engaging with voters on the complexities of the immigration crisis. Despite the bittersweet nature of his departure, de la Vega expressed relief at no longer living in fear of deportation.
