Dimitrie Brândză

Dimitrie Brândză was a renowned Romanian botanist and naturalist, born on October 22, 1946, in Bivolu, Moldova. He studied at the University of Paris, earning his doctorate in Natural Sciences and Medicine in 1869. Brândză contributed significantly to the field of botany in Romania, establishing a botanical collection at the National Museum of Natural History in Bucharest and advocating for the creation of a botanical garden. His work left a lasting impact on the study of natural sciences in the country before his untimely death at the age of 49 in 1895.
