Dimitris Stamatis
Dimitris Stamatis was a prominent Greek politician and lawyer, born in 1950 in Thessaloniki. He studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and practiced as a lawyer before entering politics. He served as a Member of Parliament for the New Democracy party from 1985 to 1993 and again from 2015 to 2019. Notably, he held the position of Minister of State in the coalition government under Prime Minister Antonis Samaras from 2012 to 2015, where he was responsible for the smooth operation and coordination of government partners. His contributions also included roles as General Secretary of the former Ministry of Transport and Communications and as General Secretary of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region. Stamatis passed away at the age of 75, leaving a legacy of dedicated public service.
