Dipa Karmakar is a renowned Indian gymnast from Tripura, celebrated for her groundbreaking achievements in a sport that has often faced neglect in the country. She made history by becoming the first Indian female gymnast to compete at the Olympics, where she finished fourth in the 2016 Rio Games, performing the highly challenging Produnova vault. Overcoming numerous injuries and significant challenges, Dipa's journey from a small town to international acclaim has not only brought recognition to gymnastics in India but has also inspired a new generation of female athletes. After retiring from competitive gymnastics, she now serves as the Deputy Director of the Tripura Sports Department, focusing on mentoring young gymnasts.
