Edward Northey

Edward Northey was the British colonial governor of Kenya during the early 1920s, known for his response to the challenges posed by activist Harry Thuku. Unable to counter Thuku's intellectual arguments and growing mobilization among the Kenyan populace, Northey ordered Thuku's arrest in 1922, which sparked significant unrest and international attention, leading to a crackdown on native organizations and the imposition of restrictive policies aimed at stifling dissent.
