Harry Thuku

Harry Thuku was a prominent Kenyan nationalist and freedom fighter who played a significant role in the struggle against colonial rule in the early 20th century. Born in 1895, Thuku became a key figure in the fight for African rights and was known for his passionate advocacy for land and political rights. He founded the East African Association in 1921, which aimed to unite Africans in the quest for independence. Despite his initial fervor for the cause, his later actions led to a complex legacy, as he eventually turned against some of the very principles he once championed. Thuku's contributions to Kenya's independence movement are commemorated through various landmarks, including the road named in his honor in Nairobi.
