Egea Haffner

Egea Haffner, known as the 'bambina con la valigia', is an 83-year-old woman who became a symbol of exile and loss after a famous photograph captured her at the age of four holding a suitcase as she left her hometown of Pola in 1946. Recently, she spoke movingly at the Quirinale, reflecting on the pain of political divisions that arise during the Day of Remembrance, and the ongoing search for her father, who disappeared during the tumultuous events following World War II.
