Ektoras Gialopsos

Ektoras Gialopsos was a Greek naval officer who tragically lost his life during the 1996 Imia crisis, a conflict between Greece and Turkey over disputed islands in the Aegean Sea. His sacrifice, along with those of his fellow officers, remains a poignant symbol of national pride and remembrance in Greece, as highlighted by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the recent commemoration of the anniversary of the Imia incident.
