Elena di Savoia
Elena di Savoia, born in 1873, was the last Queen of Italy as the wife of King Vittorio Emanuele III. She was well-loved by the Italian people for her charitable works and dedication to her country, particularly during World War I when she supported troops and their families. After Italy became a republic in 1946, she went into exile, living in France until her death in 1952. In recent years, her remains were repatriated to Italy, reflecting a growing interest in reconciling with the country's monarchical past.
