Ellen France Hulett
Ellen France Hulett, also known as Ezri Hajune, was a U.S. citizen who was detained in the Dominican Republic for not carrying identification documents. Her death on June 24, 2025, at the Centro de Procesamiento Migratorio de Haina raised concerns regarding the treatment of detainees. Initial reports indicated that she identified as male and hermaphrodite, a claim that was later found to be untrue. The cause of her death was later reported as respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, and acute cardiac insufficiency, and it was later determined by an autopsy conducted by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).
