Elma Eylem

Elma Eylem is the president of the Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) and a key organizer of recent protests in Northern Cyprus against the government's decision to allow the hijab in schools. She has been vocal in her opposition to what she describes as an attempt to impose political Islam on the Turkish Cypriot community, asserting that this move threatens the secular values that are fundamental to their identity and society.
