Emanuel Lehman

Emanuel Lehman, alongside his brothers Henry and Mayer, co-founded Lehman Brothers in the mid-19th century. After emigrating from Germany, Emanuel contributed to transforming the brothers' general store into a financial powerhouse by expanding into banking and investment services. His efforts helped the firm navigate various economic challenges throughout its history, ultimately leading it to become one of the largest investment banks in the U.S. before its collapse in 2008, which marked a pivotal moment in the global financial crisis.
