
Emma Pennell
Emma Pennell is a rising Indigenous soprano from Northern Ontario with Mi’kmaw roots, known for her powerful voice and commitment to representation in the arts. Overcoming a challenging upbringing, she pursued music passionately, earning accolades such as the RBC Emerging Artist Award at the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards. This summer, she will perform the role of Ofglen in the operatic adaptation of Margaret Atwood's 'The Handmaid’s Tale' at the Banff Centre, before joining the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio.
