Érick Humberto Contreras

Érick Humberto Contreras, known as 'el Abuelo', is recognized as the first leader of the notorious Barrio 18 gang in Guatemala. Initially involved in street dancing, he later became a prominent figure in the gang's hierarchy. In 2018, he turned state's witness against his organization, leading to significant convictions, but his later life ended tragically with his reported death shortly after obtaining early release from prison.
