Juan Carlos Linares Choc

Juan Carlos Linares Choc is a Guatemalan banker and former street dancer, who, in his youth during the 1990s, enjoyed dancing to disco music in the streets of Santa Fe, Guatemala City. Now at 51 years old, he reflects on how the vibrant dance culture of his youth was overshadowed by the emergence of gangs such as Barrio 18, which claimed many of his friends and transformed the community he once knew.
