Ernesto Chávez

Ernesto Chávez is a resident of Manta, Ecuador, who participated in a recent popular consultation about the potential re-establishment of foreign military bases in the country. Chávez voted against the proposal, citing firsthand accounts from local fishermen, including his friends, who experienced abuse of power and loss of their fishing vessels during the previous U.S. military presence in the area.
