
Errollyn Wallen
Errollyn Wallen is a Belize-born British composer and the first Black woman to be appointed as Master of the King's Music. Known for her eclectic and ambitious musical range, Wallen has composed extensively for various ensembles and genres, including ballet, opera, and orchestras. She made history by having her music performed at the prestigious Proms in 1998 and has since become one of the most performed living composers. Wallen's recent projects include a new choral work commissioned for International Women's Day, showcasing her commitment to feminist arts and her belief in the importance of representation in music.
