He served as the chief minister to Goujian, the king of the Yue state, and played a crucial role in the revival of the state after its defeat by the Wu state. Known for his wisdom and cunning, Fan Li advised Goujian on diplomatic strategies, including the use of beautiful women to distract the enemy, ultimately leading to the fall of Wu.
