FARC

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) was a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla group that engaged in armed conflict with the Colombian government for decades until a peace agreement was signed in 2016. Following the peace deal, some former members formed dissident groups like the Comandos de Frontera, which continue to engage in illegal activities, including gold mining. The Colombian government is currently negotiating peace with these dissidents in an effort to stabilize the region.
