Farida Akhtar
Farida Akhtar is a prominent figure in Bangladesh known for her advocacy in labor rights and social issues. Recently, she has been in the news for announcing plans to export 11,000 metric tons of hilsa fish to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This initiative is in response to the requests of Bangladeshi expatriates who are working abroad and sending remittances back home, particularly in light of the challenges faced during the anti-discrimination student movement. Akhtar emphasized that while year-round exports may not be feasible, arrangements could be made to send hilsa fish during the peak seasons of August and September.
