Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror, was the Ottoman sultan who captured Constantinople in 1453 and is credited with revitalizing the city, including the establishment of the Özel Fener Rum Okulu to support the return of the Greek Orthodox population.
