
Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé
Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is the current President of Togo, having held the position since 2005 after succeeding his father, Gnassingbé Eyadéma. He is a member of the Union for the Republic (UNIR) party and has focused on economic development and infrastructure improvements during his presidency. In April 2023, he was appointed as the African Union's mediator in the ongoing conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where he is expected to facilitate dialogue and work towards a peaceful resolution in the region.
