Flora Mkandawire is a community member from northern Malawi who witnessed the crash of a Malawi Defence Force aircraft that took the lives of former vice-president Saulos Chilima and several others. She reported that after she alerted authorities about the crash, she was threatened and had her two sons taken by police, leading her to fear for her safety and ultimately remain silent for a time regarding her observations.
