Francisco Narciso de Laprida
Francisco Narciso de Laprida was a key figure in Argentina's fight for independence, born on October 28, 1786, in San Juan. As a deputy representing San Juan, he presided over the historic Congress of Tucumán on July 9, 1816, where the independence of the Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata was declared. Beyond this pivotal role, he also contributed to the organization of the Army of the Andes under General José de San Martín, which aimed to liberate Chile and Peru. After independence, Laprida actively participated in Argentina's political landscape, helping to draft the Constitution of 1819 and serving as the governor of San Juan in 1824.
