Fuad Jorge Noman Filho
Fuad Jorge Noman Filho (1947-2025) was a Brazilian economist and politician who served as the mayor of Belo Horizonte. He had a distinguished career in public service, notably as a key figure in the implementation of the Plano Real, which stabilized Brazil's economy. A member of the PSDB party, he held various positions in the state government of Minas Gerais before becoming vice-mayor in 2020 and then mayor in 2022. Despite battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma, he continued to serve and campaign until his health declined, ultimately passing away in January 2025.
