
George Barițiu
George Barițiu, born on May 12, 1812, in Jucu de Jos, Cluj County, was a prominent Romanian publicist, revolutionary, and cultural leader. He is best known for founding 'Gazeta de Transilvania', the first Romanian political newspaper in Transylvania, and for his active involvement in the national emancipation movement. Barițiu was a member of the Diet of Transylvania and a founding member of the Romanian Academy, contributing significantly to Romanian literature and culture until his death in 1893.
