George Forbes

George Forbes was a key participant in the balmyard tradition alongside his wife, Rose Ann Forbes. He was involved in healing practices at the Blake’s Pen balmyard and faced legal scrutiny for his activities, being charged with obeah in 1916, a charge later reduced to practicing medicine without a license. His experience highlights the precarious position of those engaged in traditional healing practices in Jamaica during the early 20th century.
