Georges Danton
Georges Danton was a leading figure in the early stages of the French Revolution, known for his oratory skills and his role as a founding member of the Cordeliers Club. Born on October 26, 1759, Danton became the first president of the Committee of Public Safety and was instrumental in the establishment of the First French Republic. His popularity and charisma made him a key player during the tumultuous period of the Revolution. However, his later opposition to the more radical measures of the Revolution led to his downfall, and he was executed by guillotine on April 5, 1794, during the Reign of Terror, which he had once helped to instigate.
