Georgiy Moskalenko
Georgiy Moskalenko was a prominent Ukrainian dissident and political prisoner who played a crucial role in the 1966 flag-raising protest in Kyiv. Born in 1938, he was deeply influenced by discussions about Ukrainian independence and the historical narratives surrounding it. Alongside Viktor Kuksa, he raised an improvised Ukrainian flag on the roof of the Kyiv Institute of National Economy, an act that led to their arrest and subsequent imprisonment. Moskalenko was fully rehabilitated in 2007 and posthumously recognized for his contributions to Ukrainian national identity.
