
Gilbert Diendere
Gilbert Diendere is a former chief of staff of the Burkinabé army and a key figure in the military coup attempt in 2015 against the transitional government. He was a prominent ally of former president Blaise Compaore and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the failed coup, which aimed to restore Compaore's regime. Despite the recent amnesty granted to 21 soldiers involved in the coup, Diendere remains imprisoned and was not included in this pardon.
