He faces charges under Article 2201 of the Georgian Criminal Code for neglecting his official duties, which allegedly resulted in severe consequences during the construction of the hydro power plant. The prosecution is seeking a 50,000 Lari bail for him, which his defense has opposed, claiming the charges are fabricated. Bachashvili is also involved in another legal matter concerning the misappropriation of 8,986 bitcoins belonging to Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the Georgian Dream party, for which he faces a bail of 2.5 million Lari and other restrictions.
