Goranka Matić

Goranka Matić (1949-2025) was a renowned photographer and chronicler of the social and cultural landscape of her time, known for her impactful documentary work. She began her career in the 1970s and became a prominent figure in rock photography during the 1980s, capturing iconic images of musicians and significant political events. Her extensive portfolio includes portraits of artists, writers, and political figures, and she contributed to major publications in the former Yugoslavia. Matić was also a dedicated educator, teaching at universities in Belgrade, and was recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to journalism and art. A retrospective of her work was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade in 2021, celebrating her lasting impact on national culture.
