Grigore Bastan (1922-1983) was a Romanian major general and parachutist, known for his significant contributions to the development of military parachuting in Romania. He was a member of the first military parachutist company and played a crucial role in re-establishing the first parachute battalion in 1950, training thousands of soldiers in this specialty. Bastan was also recognized for his innovation in parachute design and set a national record for parachuting from 10,000 meters in 1970. His legacy continues through the General Grigore Bastan Foundation, which honors his contributions to the field.
