Ileana Mălăncioiu

Ileana Mălăncioiu, born on January 23, 1940, is a contemporary Romanian poet, essayist, and civic activist. A member of the Romanian Academy since 2013, she has been a prominent figure in literature and journalism, writing extensively on philosophy, folklore, and literary history. Mălăncioiu's works were often subject to censorship during the Communist regime, yet she remained outspoken and influential in promoting philosophical and literary discourse in Romania.
