Guan Heng

Guan Heng is a Chinese national and human rights activist known for his courageous efforts to expose human rights abuses in Xinjiang, China. In 2020, he secretly filmed detention facilities in the region, which are alleged to have incarcerated up to one million Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities. After fleeing China to avoid persecution, Guan sought asylum in the United States. His case drew significant public attention and support, ultimately leading to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security dropping its plan to deport him back to China, where he would likely face severe repercussions for his human rights advocacy.
