Hans Wijnberg

Hans Wijnberg was a Jewish refugee who played a crucial role in a clandestine operation during World War II known as 'Brooklyn'. In February 1945, he and two others parachuted into the Stubaier Alps in Tyrol on a mission directed by the US intelligence, which was instrumental in ending Nazi control in the area and leading to the non-violent surrender of the city of Innsbruck shortly before the war's conclusion.
