Hsu Li-nung

Hsu Li-nung, known affectionately as 'Hsu Laoyang,' was a prominent Taiwanese military and political figure born on April 4, 1919, in Guichi, Anhui Province, China. He served as the president of the Army Academy and held key positions such as the commander of the Kinmen Defense Command and the Director of the Political Warfare Bureau at the Ministry of National Defense. After retiring from military service, Hsu became involved in politics, notably as a member of the Kuomintang and later co-founding the New Party in opposition to the leadership of Lee Teng-hui. Hsu was recognized for his longevity, earning the title 'Centenarian General,' and he was an advocate for the unification of China, having met with President Xi Jinping in 2014. He recently made headlines due to his passing at the age of 107.
