II. Fatih Mehmed, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror, was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1444 to 1446 and again from 1451 to 1481. He is best remembered for his successful conquest of Constantinople in 1453, which marked the end of the Byzantine Empire and the rise of the Ottoman Empire as a dominant power in the region. His reign was characterized by significant territorial expansion, administrative reforms, and the establishment of the Enderun Academy, which trained the empire's elite bureaucrats and military leaders.
