Ilyas
Ilyas is a cattle trader from the village of Gourkuchi in the Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet, Bangladesh. He supports a family of five, including his mother, wife, son, and daughter, and has been in the cattle business for the past ten years after struggling to find work. He sources cattle from various markets, including Radhanagar and Tawakul, and occasionally from Rajshahi. Due to the closure of stone quarrying work in 2020, his income primarily comes from selling cattle, managing to sell around 25 to 30 cows each month. Despite the challenges, he diligently manages his family's finances, which include monthly expenses for rent, electricity, and food.
