Ioakeim Koumousis

Ioakeim Koumousis, a 23-year-old graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts, is emerging as a fresh voice in the world of iconography. With a passion for painting that ignited in childhood, he has dedicated himself to exploring the deeper artistic character of sacred images. Currently studying in the Fresco and Portable Icons Workshop, he seeks to integrate contemporary elements into traditional iconography, making it more relatable to modern audiences. Koumousis emphasizes the spiritual connection inherent in the craft, positing that while faith is not a prerequisite for practicing iconography, it can profoundly influence the artist's approach.
