Jacob Fugger

Jacob Fugger (1459–1525) was a wealthy German banker and merchant from Augsburg, credited with establishing one of the most successful banking families in Europe during the Renaissance. He is best known for founding the Fuggerei, the world's oldest social housing complex, which provides affordable housing for the needy in exchange for daily prayers. His philanthropic vision has left a lasting legacy, as the Fuggerei continues to operate and adapt to contemporary needs.
